Weekend in Stanley

We had a cosy weekend away to Stanley.  We stayed at the Sleepy Hollow Hideaway just a few kilometres out of Stanley.  The weather was windy and rainy, in spite of this we had a lovely time away.

On our way to Stanley, we stopped at Westbury for petrol.

We had a look inside Joe Lyons cottage in Stanley.
Joe Lyons was born in 1879.  He went on to become
the 26th Premier of Tasmania and the10th Prime
Minister of Australia.
Joe married a local girl, Enid Burnell,
she was 17 and he was 35.
Enid also went into politics and was
the first woman Australian Politician
elected to the House of Representatives.
Enid was made a Dame Grand Cross of the
Order of the British Empire in 1937.

Blue willow china on display.

Just in case you haven't realised I love blue and white china.

We stopped at Touchwood Cafe for afternoon tea.
The muffin was so yummy.

Just along from the Hideaway Cottage is a dairy farm.
They closed the road to allow the cows to go for milking.
