Australia Day Long Weekend

We had a little Australia Day holiday long weekend to Devonport.

First we stopped at Latrobe to watch the festivities at Bells Parade.

We watched the wood chopping

Stephen Foster wood chopping on the right.  Stephen had a 30 second handicap and still came first.

We watched the ferret racing

They were fun to watch, they run along the frame and out the pipes (see below)

First one out is the winner

We watched the weight lifting

These are just a few of the cars on display

We watched the kite flying

They had the kite shop, so

I bought the Goldfish kite :-)

We watched the gumboot throwing

We watched kid have fun on the Taz-Zorb

We had a look at the model boat display

and watched the model boats on the Mersey River

It was a nice hot sunny day but there was plenty of shady trees to keep us cool.
