Quick trip to George Town at the weekend

We had a little bit of work to do in George Town at the weekend, so we spent a bit of time to see the sights too.  We stopped for late morning tea at the Low Head Cafe and then went to the lighthouse for a look.

The Low Head lighthouse is at the mouth of the Tamar River.
It was first lit in 1833 and is the oldest continuously used pilot station.
The light is now unmanned and automated.

making George Town the first European settlement
in the north and one of the first in Australia.

The bridge is named after John Batman who was a local
businessman in Launceston in 1821.
The bridge was opened in 1968.

Last of the Autumn colours

We are having a busy week with twice daily trips to Scottsdale.  The weather has been cold, foggy, rainy, misty and full of late Autumn colour.  Such a pretty time of year.

We kidnapped Mum from the Manor for Mother's Day

No, not really, but we all spent a lovely day at home with Mum, and other members of the family.
We had lovely roast lamb for lunch with chocolate cake for sweets.

My lovely Mum made the cross stitch a few years ago, so we had it framed nicely for her so she can have it hung in her room at the Manor.  It turned out just beautiful.

Rosevears Speedboat Spectacular

We spent a pleasant morning watching the speedboats around at Rosevears.  We parked across the road from the Rosevears Waterfront Tavern and watched the speedboats racing around.  The weather was lovely just standing and watching the races.

We had a great day.

I never get tired of this view.

We moved to Blackwall 16 years ago.  And I never get tired of the ever changing views from our front window. Beautiful afternoon sunset glow...
