A morning in Stanley.

On our way home from Smithton we stopped at Stanley for the morning.  The weather was lovely and we had a great time.

The view of the "Nut" as you drive towards Stanley.

First stop was Highfield House circa 1830.

Very nicely restored to a high standard.

March Long Weekend 2020

We were lucky enough to get away for the March Long Weekend to Tall Timbers at Smithton.  We had a wonderful relaxing time doing bush walks in the Tarkine Cool Temperate Rainforest in the North West of Tasmania.  Totally amazing part of the world.

A quiet country drive on our way to Smithton.

We stopped for breakfast at the Blue Banner Pickled Onion factory near Ulverstone.

Full breakfast including pickled onions.

We went for a stroll along the boardwalk through Coastal Swamp Paperbark Forest in Smithton.

Magnificent tall trees in the Tarkine Rainforest.

We saw lots of bee hives along the Tarkine Drive for Blue Hills Honey.

A selection of photos of the Tarkine Rainforest.

Just to show how tall these trees and ferns are.

Then and Now 2008 - 2020

We bought our home in December 2007 and moved in on the March Long Weekend the following year after we had painted it inside.  We have been busy the last 12 years renovating and tidying up.

Some photos from how it was and what it is now.  The photos of what the house was like are from the real estate site online.

Before and now.

The view from the front deck.  The view below is how it looks at sunset most evenings.

Oh!  that bright orange.

The view from the kitchen to the front door.

Needless to say we didn't keep the pink regency stripes,
and the old wardrobe with the doors didn't close properly.

There was a vacant block next door originally, but now we have some lovely neighbours.

We instantly fell in love with the views, and could see past the bright orange inside to its potential.

I never get tired of this view.

We moved to Blackwall 16 years ago.  And I never get tired of the ever changing views from our front window. Beautiful afternoon sunset glow...
