March Long Weekend 2020

We were lucky enough to get away for the March Long Weekend to Tall Timbers at Smithton.  We had a wonderful relaxing time doing bush walks in the Tarkine Cool Temperate Rainforest in the North West of Tasmania.  Totally amazing part of the world.

A quiet country drive on our way to Smithton.

We stopped for breakfast at the Blue Banner Pickled Onion factory near Ulverstone.

Full breakfast including pickled onions.

The clock tower at Ulverstone.

Our accommodation at Tall Timbers, Smithton.

We went for a stroll along the boardwalk through Coastal Swamp Paperbark Forest in Smithton.

Road signs to point the way.

Kingfisher on a sign along the Tarkine Drive.

Magnificent tall trees in the Tarkine Rainforest.

We saw lots of bee hives along the Tarkine Drive for Blue Hills Honey.

A selection of photos of the Tarkine Rainforest.

Just to show how tall these trees and ferns are.

Tiny little frog in the leaf litter - right in the centre of the picture.

Tasmanian Green Rosella.

Dempster Plains covered with Button Grass.

The Sinkhole

Trowutta Arch - not the best of photos at the water is beautiful green colour.

We stopped for a feast of Oysters Kilpatrick at Smithton.
