Day 17 - Port Augusta to Pichi Richi Railway.

I've done Day 17 over three pages.  We left Port Augusta and stopped at Pichi Richi Railway for a look.  Unfortunately there were no trains running that day, but it was a really interesting place to visit.

Bird Lake is a salt lake at Port Augusta.
The photo doesn't do it justice as the salt crystals
glisten in the sunlight.

One of the many wedgetail eagles we saw.

The terrain was getting more mountainous.

No traffic as we head towards the Flinders Ranges.

The views are stunning.

The purple Salvation Jane or Paterson's Curse flowering along the side of the road.

More Salvation Jane.  It is poisonous to grazing livestock.  Especially horses.

Paddocks of Salvation Jane.  It looks so beautiful.

Lonely windmill in the paddock for bore water.

Welcome to Quorn.

One of the old buildings in Quorn.

The Pichi Richi Railway station.

We bought this little booklet about the railway.

Sorry no trains running today.

Views along the way to our next stop.

A little bit of water in the creek bed.
