Road Trip - Day 13

As we leave the Big Banana in Coffs Harbour we are getting closer to Sydney to catch up with Heather, John and the girls.  We have one more stop tonight at Newcastle then heading to Sydney.   Along the way we stopped at the National Motorbike Museum in Nabiac.  WOW.  Well worth the detour if you like bikes.   We arrived in Newcastle early afternoon, we were staying in a suburb called Fern Bay.  We went for a walk along the breakwall at Stockton Beach.  You could see the shipwreck of the Adolphe.

Palm trees at the caravan park.

Bye bye Big Banana.

We stopped for breakfast at Old Mates Burgers.

The Clog Shop in Coffs Harbour.

We stopped to reset the GPS in the carpark of the Clog Shop.

They were just opening as we rode off.

Galah mural on our way to Newcastle.

The Jacaranda along the highway just starting to flower.

A fruit and veg shop Coffs Harbour.

The sky was looking ominously dark, however, it didn't rain.

We had a pitstop and there was this little sign
with the story of the Kingfisher from the traditional
land owners the Dunghutti people.
Clever little bird.

Our ride.

White bottlebrush tree at our pitstop.

Richard stretching his legs.

Another long straight road.

The road through the Manning Valley.

We passed the turn off for Moorland and found us in dairy country.
There were white herons amongst cows.

More cows, no herons.

The National Motorcycle Museum in Nabiac.

It looks like a tin shed, but it was like a tardis inside.

The Lego car.

An nostalgic poster from the Longford races in Tasmania.

We stopped at this little coffee shop in Nabiac.

Besides cappuccinos and cakes, they had lovely bunches of waratahs.

Not far to Newcastle.

More of the scenery.

There were rows and rows of red bottlebrush flowering along the side of the road.

We stopped in the shade near the Rock Roadhouse to consult with the GPS.

Another long straight road near Newcastle.

Welcome to Williamstown.

The Hanger at Fighterworld at Williamstown.

The flight radar dish at Fighterworld.

Entry to Fighterworld.
We didn't stop.

Just down the road was Fern Bay and our accommodation.

The Stockton Ferry at Newcastle.

The Lighthouse as seen from the breakwater at Stockton Beach.

We stopped to watch the tugs bring in the Admiral Jimmu.

The wreck of the Adolphe which was ship wrecked in 1904.
The wreck of the French four-masted barque Adolphe
lies off the Stockton breakwall, a two-kilometre
return path with a viewing platform to standover
the Adolphe wreck. The account of the wreck
is a story of the courageous and skilful work
of the lifeboat crew who saved every life on board.

The David Allan is a dredging vessel.
Heading out to sea.

Mr Percival.

We had a yummy seafood pizza at the 3 Sicilians.

The empty plate.
